Lodge Life

Beyond the beach, there’s plenty to do

The island sets the pace. We just help you make the most of it.
Island Massage

Pure relaxation,

right on the island.

Our comfortable massage bungalow accommodates up to two people at a time, a few steps from the beach. Unwind with a 50-minute Malagasy massage using 100% natural Malagasy oils.

Massages are available daily from 08:00 to 18:00 and must be booked in advance with our bar team. Whether you’re enjoying a coffee, a cocktail or simply the view, our staff will be happy to arrange a treatment for you.

The Boutique

Island finds and

everyday essentials.

The lodge boutique is a convenient stop for upmarket souvenirs and locally made crafts, a lovely way to take a piece of the island home. You’ll find handwoven baskets, carved wooden pieces, printed fabrics and local artisan items.

We also stock everyday essentials for guests who have forgotten something: toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel and other basics. No need for a boat to Nosy Be for the small things.

Open daily.

Beach time

Slow down to island speed

Beach loungers

Sun loungers are set out along the beach. Find a shady spot, settle in with a book and watch the tide and island life drift by.

Snorkelling

The house reef stretches for over a kilometre offshore and offers rewarding snorkelling throughout much of the tide cycle. At low tide, the coral formations and reef fish are at their easiest to explore. As the tide rises, head to the turtle reserve at the foot of the sacred mountain, where giant green turtles are regularly seen feeding in the seagrass beds. Snorkelling gear is available to borrow; chat with our team and we’ll happily point you towards the best areas.

Book exchange

A well-stocked shelf of books in multiple languages. Borrow one, swap one, leave one, however it works for you.

Games & social areas

A small open-sided games bungalow with card games, backgammon and pétanque. The kind of place where an afternoon can quietly disappear between games, conversation and a cold drink.
Sunset & stargazing
Take the short climb to our hilltop viewpoint overlooking the mangrove bay, Sacred Mountain and open ocean beyond. As the sun sets, the western horizon glows while the reflected colours light up the skies above Nosy Be. After dark, with virtually no light pollution, the stars, Milky Way and Southern Cross take centre stage.

Explore the island

The island is small enough to explore on foot. Wander along a network of paths through ylang-ylang and vanilla plantations, tropical vegetation, fruit trees and coastal viewpoints, discovering the natural character of Sakatia along the way. Keep an eye out for local birdlife and ask our team about guided island walks.

Island massage
A few steps from the beach, our massage bungalow offers a peaceful setting to unwind. Enjoy a traditional Malagasy massage using 100% natural Malagasy oils, while birdsong drifts down from the Sacred Mountain and the tide laps gently along the shore. Let island time do the rest.
Barefoot dining
Fresh island flavours, ocean views and relaxed dining by the sea. From breakfast through dinner, enjoy locally inspired dishes in a setting where shoes are entirely optional.
Sakatia by boat
See Sakatia from a different perspective and discover parts of the island that are rarely seen from land. Visit secluded coves, snorkelling spots and the beautiful northern beach of Ampasindava, with the option of a relaxed island lunch along the way. Available as a half-day or full-day excursion.

Every stay at Sakatia Lodge follows the seasons, the tides and the pace you choose. Come and find yours.
