Diving around Nosy Be and Nosy Sakatia offers you a diverse range of dive sites and underwater topography.
Our reefs are some of the healthiest on the planet and our 20+ dive sites give you the chance to dive underwater pinnacles, coral garden plateaux, reef walls and muck and sponge gardens.

We cater for new and experienced divers, and our passionate team is dedicated to provide you the best service.

We love sharing our knowledge about the underwater world and we have an extensive reference library, so we can find the exact nudibranch we spotted on our dive.

When to dive with us

Two factors affect the diving here:

The time of the year

The water is warm here all year round, ranging from 26°C in June-August to 29°C-30°C from November to April.

Life on the reef changes throughout the seasons, with huge schools of yellow-tail barracudas and mating octopuses in winter and spring, wonderful muck diving and fish nurseries at other times.

But whatever time you visit us, you will be sure to have some excellent underwater sightings.

The moon cycle

Our tides vary significantly, depending on the moon cycle:

  • at full and new moon: tides vary by as much as 4.5 meters, which means strong currents and lots of fish activity

  • at quarter moon: tides vary by just half a meter, meaning we have no currents and great opportunities to spot small creatures and special finds

Diving for groups

As well as catering to individual divers and couples, we also have extensive experience of hosting large dive groups.

The Lodge is ideal for a dedicated dive trip, offering accommodation and a dedicated dive centre in one location.

We can host up to 18 divers at a time and have two specially designed dive boats, allowing us to dive in different sites at the same time, so the reef never gets crowded.

Hyperbaric chamber in Nosy Be

The local hyperbaric chamber in Nosy Be is run in association with DAN Southern Africa and DAN Europe.

An Italian NGO, Life for Madagascar, runs the clinic where the chamber is located.

We are committed to diver safety and Jose, one of the owners of Sakatia Lodge, helps to run the chamber alongside other members of the local diving community. He also undertakes maintenance and runs training for technicians.
